Luxury Garments Of The Best Natural Fibers.

The Alpaca, The Llama, The Vicuña And The Guanaco

It will attract your attention because this time I am going to tell you about this animal called Alpaca, a beautiful animal, with an elegant bearing, its hair is distinguished by its extraordinary softness, and I knit some garments by hand with this alpaca fiber, originally from Peru-South America.

These animals are native from Peru.
Peru is located in South America. Borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile.

 Peru's Capital is Lima.
Colonial and Pre-Columbian. Peru is proclaimed independent on July 28, 1821, by General from Argentine Jose de San Martin.

Machu Picchu the City of the Incas. The Andes Mountains at a Height of 7,972 feet.
The alpaca Lives in the Andean Regions of South America at an Altitude of 5,000 «m s. n. m.»

These animals belong to the species of camelids. The members of this group are: dromedary camels, Bactrian camels, wild Bactrian camels, Llamas, Alpacas, Vicunas and Guanacos. These last four come from South America. Alpaca is the most valued among them for its domesticity and high quality wool.

Of the four different camelids that exist in South America, the llama, vicuna, guanaco, and the alpaca, while all these camelids produce wool, alpaca wool is the best.
Compete with advantage against most used fibers such as:
sheep wool = merino wool
goats wool = cashmire
Angora goat hair = mohair, in terms of softness and beauty.

Types of Alpaca Fiber
Huacaya: It is a spongy, dense, wavy and lustrous fiber. The wicks are shorter than those of Suri and look similar to sheep. It is the most abundant alpaca in a percentage of 8 out of 10 animals.

Suri: Suri alpaca is scarcer compared to Huayaca, it is less resistant to the climate of the mountains of South America, since its hair does not protect them well against the cold. The fiber of the suri is highly valued for its great softness, density and shine, far superior to that of Huayaca. Its fibers are longer and grow in long loops parallel to the animal's body, giving it a silky and shiny appearance.

Baby Alpaca
Baby alpaca fiber is obtained by shearing the first wool harvesting (precisely because is a baby alpaca) is the most valuable and appreciated all.

Properties Of Alpaca Wool
Hypoallergenic: Unlike sheep wool, alpaca fiber does not contain lanolin, it is a wax that produces the skin of some animals by the sebaceous glands of some mammals, especially woolly cattle to protect the skin and wool from the weather "Wool oil substance" which makes it hypoallergenic and suitable for people sensitive to wool, and the absence of oils makes it easy to dye without losing its shine and softness.

Lightness: Being its light fibers adapt to the temperature of our body.

Resistance: Alpaca fiber is more resistant than sheep wool, it does not wear out with use. Like wool and other fibers of animal origin, the alpaca also repels water, even when wet, it will protect your body from the weather.

Alpacas Are One of the Cleanest and Tidiest Animals. They Share the Same Place as a Bathroom Among Everyone.

The Vicuñas
They are the smallest camelids, weigh between 40 and 50 kg and have a length of 80 cm. They are wild. Its color is beige or vicuña (light reddish brown) on the back, white in the central area and legs, with variations depending on the geographical areas where they live.

They are darker and have a tuft in the front of long white hairs (pectoral tuft). The vicuñas have long, thin legs, finished in pads, suitable for walking on various types of soil, including stony ones. The fiber of its wool is among the finest in the world. The fur is dense, formed by thin fibers that grow very close together, with the aim of protecting the animal from both cold and rain and wind.

The Guanaco

Guanaco is a scarcer camelid than alpaca. It is covered by a double thick coat that protects it. The guanacos are characterized by being (the 4-legged animals), larger in size of Patagonia (with the exception of marine mammals).

Its fur is longer than that of the vicuña, but shorter than that of the alpaca; It is also of excellent quality and reddish in color. It is very light because, unlike sheep wool, and similar to that of vicuña, it is hollow.

The habit of the guanaco is diurnal.
They live in small herds formed by a male and several females with their young.

If the male detects any danger, he warns the group through a "shout, sound, alert call, that is like “Kikikikikiki ki ki kiiii kikiki” quite loud.

So, (if you go through those parts of Peru and hear that sound, by the way, they are a group of guanacos, go for a run, it has been said!) 😁😂😄

The guanaco can run up to 64 km / h. The speed in them is important for their existence, since they live in open places called plains, clear places that have no place to hide in case of danger. The average life of these animals is 20 to 25 years.

Its main predator is the puma, and the red fox that attacks the young, but the guanacos have strategies and the ability to support each other to defend and take care of their young, forming a circle around the most defenseless, fighting and ferrously removing the enemy to kicks.

A Reflection On This Matter...                How wonderful is nature, the animal kingdom, the survival instinct !! Maternal, paternal instinct, communication, union and teamwork! ... as these animals leave me thinking! ...😊

(Over there, I heard someone say "that we the humans are the animals", I do not want to insult anyone ... I am included in the package) 😖

Although for the bad luck of the Guanaco,😠 it is very difficult if their encounter is with the cougar.😓 La cosa è stata fregata! 😒 The thing got screwed ! 😟 😄

The Llama
The Llama, this animal does not exist in the wild, it is a domestic species by man. The Llama was mainly used as a pack animal because of its great resistance.

Their gestation period is almost one year, and they give birth to only one offspring, abundant in the Puna or Altiplano of the Andes of Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, and Argentina, also domesticated by the Andean natives of the Inca Empire.

At present, meat and wool are still obtained from it, and it is also used as animal freight transport. Its good quality fiber is produced and marketed, it is used to weave coats, its intestines to make ropes and drums, its stool as fuel.

Well, I hope you liked this topic regarding these beautiful animals that give us a lot, but I do not want to say goodbye without making a comment:

Looking for information on these animals in question, I found a story in which some youngsters who did not pass the 12 years old; they had covered a dog with gasoline just for the sheer pleasure of seeing suffer it.

I am horrified to think, where are the parents of those children, if they act like this when they are still children, what will they be in their adult lives ...

In recent years we are experiencing totally uncontrolled violence, adults, young people, children who mistreat defenseless animals, just for the pleasure of having fun or downloading their personal frustrations.

Therefore, it is important, it is our duty, our obligation to educate our children from an early age, that we should treat animals with respect and affection, which at the end of the day, somehow they provide us with incalculable benefits; they give us company, they give us happiness, they give us food, they help us, and they collaborate in some jobs, in short a long list of positive things.
                                                                               BYE !
Do not kill animals for sport, if not necessary.
