HOW FREQUENTLY DO YOU EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN?

Hello friends of "Dress is an Art"...

How to achieve Enviable Skin, Smooth, Soft and Shiny...                                         In a previous article I commented on the importance of exfoliating your skin to keep it healthy, to make it look fresh, young and without the risk of those odious wrinkles appearing before their time.

The dermatologist advise us to exfoliate the skin once or twice a week with non-irritating ingredients, to keep the skin healthy and without problems.

Caring for your skin with scrubs...

Exfoliation removes dead cells from the skin's surface to improve its appearance and prevent clogged pores and acne.

It can also help fight the signs of aging by removing dull skin damaged and encourage the growth of new healthy skin.

I commented it, on how rich, delicious and comforting it is to take a bath in the tub, so much to recharge the energy to our mind, as for our skin. If you have not read it, I suggest you give it a "look".

How our skin is?                       Some of us don't know how our skin is, I didn't... so I'll share with you what I learned. Our skin is renewed and replaced every 20 to 28 days. It is therefore, to have a soft, and healthy skin we have to get rid of those dead cells, otherwise we will have the skin with a wrinkled appearance.

I have learn that the thickness of our skin is different in some parts of our body.                                                    The thinnest skin, which is 0.5 mm thick, is found in the testicles. The eyelids measures 4 mm., and that of the soles of the feet can reach up to 1 cm., therefore the testicles, and the eyelids are best treated with great care, and should not be exfoliated.

How to maintain, treat, protect, and care for our skin?  Since we are born, we already started with the aging process 😔 of our skin, and the cells have a renewal cycle. Our skin regenerates every day; so every day we have dead cells. 😞

There is a wide variety of exfoliants: Chemical, Physical or scrubs, and Enzymatic.

What is the Chemical Exfoliator?
When applying chemical exfoliants, they help eliminate dead cells; by breaking down, and loosening dead skin cells, which in turn makes it easier to cleanse your face. Without a doubt, chemical exfoliants can be gentler than physical exfoliation.

There are three main types of chemical exfoliants: AHAs, BHAs, and PHAs.

What are all these acronyms?                                                                                           AHA, BHA and PHA.  Acids fall into about three categories: alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and the underdogs, polyhydroxy acids (PHAs).   If you are using an acid for skin care, it will fall into one of these three categories.

What are physical exfoliants?                                                                              Physical exfoliation consists of manually removing dead skin cells with a facial exfoliating product that contains a kind of small, rough particles. These granules (ground walnuts, coffee beans, jojoba beads, pumice stone crystals, and others) that are rubbed on the skin remove the layer of dead cells, and leave the skin young and smooth.

What are Chemical scrubs?                                                           These are natural acid products that contain ingredients that act by dissolving dead cells, after letting it rest for a little time on your skin, these products help break down the skin, and epidermis cells; for the skin to loosen and peel off.

Is a scrub a chemical exfoliant?                                                                                      In short, a sugar scrub is a type of physical exfoliation that uses sugar crystals. However, the sugar crystals in scrubs can often be too big and too harsh, which can cause micro-tears on the skin.

Is exfoliation and scrub the same?                                                                 Scrubbing and exfoliating mean the same thing. This works on the surface of the skin, and is milder than a scrub.

Is a face scrub an exfoliant?                                                                                                   A facial scrub is a skin care product. Helps remove dead cells from the skin's surface, reducing the risk of acne breakouts.

Do not over-exfoliate!!!                                                                                                      Too much exfoliation can lead to redness, inflammation, dryness, or infection. For most people, the ideal is to exfoliate two to three times a week, depending on your skin type, and how you feel, that... you will discover for yourself.

Since I'm allergic to chemicals, and I've already been to the emergency room a few times, I had to learn to solve my problem the old-fashioned way...

The best, and that is available to everyone is with sea sand, Yes!... Just as you are reading it, sea sand that you can find in supermarkets in the gardening section, or in the craft section, or when you go to the beach you can collect the sand in a bucket, and when you get back home, rinse it lightly, once is enough, with drinking water, make it dry completely, and store it to use in your days of exfoliation baths.

Meanwhile, I am gathering the shells of about 50 eggs, instead of throwing them in the trash, I keep them in the fridge, and then I pulverize them, until they are powdered, and I use it as an exfoliator.

I particularly prefer homemade exfoliators, they tend to be better without chemicals, I use more frequently in my daily bath, and by the way, I save a few dollars. 😏

Chemical methods can be too abrasive to use several times a week. But this depends on you, on your tastes and preferences.

In any way, you do the exfoliation to your skin; note that at the end of the treatment it is convenient, and essential to use a moisturizer.

No matter which way you choose the exfoliation, it helps to give your skin a healthy, younger, smoother, and rejuvenated appearance. keep in mind that it is extremely necessary for your skin to remove dead skin that remains on the surface of your skin, otherwise it will accentuate the lines of wrinkles produced by normal aging.

Consider, any exfoliant can irritate your skin when done in excess, and can leave your skin susceptible to infection.

I just use Foam Cleanser on my face twice a week with baking soda, can be an effective facial scrub that you must surely have in your kitchen (I use the small sponges that are used to wash the dishes I cut them in two or four depend the size of the sponge). 😯

Or if you want something more exclusive there are endless sponges to exfoliate the skin of the face on the market. The truth is that I am very practical, simple and it works the same for me. Only that when they are new they are abrasive, a little rough but if you use them with delicacy it works really well, your skin will look like baby tails.

Start massaging in circular motions on your forehead, thickly, removing dirt, oil and dead skin cells from your face, around the nose, mouth, exfoliate your lips, around the eyes, your body, your back, elbows and knees, rinse and go. You will see and feel how smoothly is your skin after exfoliate. 😌 😊

Do not feel less, for using things out of the ordinary, and to use the things you have at hand, my dear daughters...they would tell me "mom, don't be silly," absurd, but hey, the truth is that I'm practical... if I don't have something I need at hand, I solve it with something I have, and it gives me the same result... the question is to do, what you need to do, and when you go shopping , you give yourself the pleasure of buying the exquisiteses that your pocket can pay.

For your face: Try to buy a soap of a very good quality, it could be glycerin, as it does not contain aggressive chemicals, is an alternative for people with skin problems such as acne, eczema or psoriasis, make sure they really are pure glycerin or Foam Cleanser. 😊

Tip: Exfoliate every third day.

Reflection: Think for yourself, and let others who also enjoy that privilege.

I hope you liked my article, that I have researched it to offer to you, and that it is useful to you.

Please, share it with friends.  I wait for your comments. Until the next time when we'll "get together on line"

Best of Luck in Your Day...!
